Google review management for contractors and med spas

Before anyone calls you, they read your reviews. Ask every customer the same honest way, answer every review calmly, and keep your Google profile current.

What Google review management means

Google review management is the routine work behind your star rating: asking customers for reviews, replying to what they write, and keeping your Google Business Profile accurate. It is not about collecting only five-star ratings. It is about showing a real, current picture of how you treat people.

That picture matters most to someone comparing you with another home service company or med spa. They see your rating, your review count, and whether you answer.

Two rules run through everything below: ask every customer the same way, and never pay for, trade for, or write a review. They line up with Google's review policy and the FTC's consumer reviews rule, and they are also good business.

What it covers

The four parts of review management

Ask everyone

A text or email with your Google review link goes to every customer after a job, worded the same way.

Reply to all

Every review gets a short, human reply, good or bad. On Growth and Scale, we draft them.

Profile upkeep

Hours, services, areas, and posts stay current. Every plan includes 4 posts a month.

Put them to work

Real reviews belong on your website, close to the call and booking buttons.

How to ask for reviews the right way

Most review trouble comes from shortcuts. These are lines we will not cross.

  • No gating. Do not ask “how was it?” first and send only happy customers to Google. Google's policy says not to selectively seek positive reviews or discourage negative ones.
  • No incentives. No discounts, gifts, or drawing entries in exchange for a review. Google's policy does not allow it.
  • No fake or bought reviews. Do not post reviews yourself, have staff or family do it, or pay anyone. The FTC's consumer reviews rule, effective October 21, 2024, targets fake reviews.
  • Don't script the review. Ask for an honest review and let people say what they think.
  • Make it easy. Send a direct link to your Google review form by text or email soon after the job.
  • Text only people who agreed to be texted. Every text carries a way to opt out. See how we handle it in missed call text back for contractors and med spas.

We hold ourselves to the same rule: any review of KEM is requested separately and never tied to a discount. This is general information, not legal advice, and your own attorney can confirm what applies to your business.

Replying to every review

Reply to every review in a few sentences, ideally within a day or two. Thank the person, stay with what they wrote, and add no private details.

A good review

Thank you, [Name]. We're glad the visit went smoothly, and we appreciate you taking the time to say so.

A bad review

We're sorry this wasn't the experience you expected, [Name]. We'd like to understand what happened and make it right. Please call our office or email us so we can look into it.

Do not argue or get defensive. Future customers read your reply more closely than the complaint. For more, see our guide to responding to negative Google reviews.

A med spa reply

Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you sharing your experience. If you have questions, please reach out to our office directly.

A reviewer can describe their own visit. Your reply should not confirm they were a patient or mention treatments, dates, or health details, even if they did. Keep it general and move specifics to a phone call. That is the careful approach under privacy rules like HIPAA, not legal advice. More in how to get more Google reviews for your med spa.

Keep your Google Business Profile in shape

Your reviews live on your Google Business Profile, so it needs regular care. A monthly check should cover business name and categories, hours (including holidays), services and service areas, fresh photos of real work, and a post or two. Our Google Business Profile checklist walks through each item.

Show your reviews on your website

Show real reviews as written, near your call button and on service pages, with a link to your full Google profile so visitors can read the rest. Never edit a review or invent one. If you have none yet, leave the spot out until real ones arrive. See our website design for contractors and med spas.

FAQ

Review management questions

Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?

No. Google's review policy does not allow offering payment, discounts, or free goods in exchange for reviews. We don't set up incentives, and we ask every customer the same way.

Can I ask only my happy customers?

No. Asking only the customers you expect to be happy, or sending unhappy ones to a private form, is review gating, and Google's policy prohibits selectively seeking positive reviews. Ask every customer the same way.

Should I reply to negative reviews?

Yes. Reply calmly and briefly, apologize for the experience without arguing, and offer to talk offline. Future customers read how you handle problems.

What can a med spa say in a review reply?

Keep it general. Thank the reviewer and invite them to contact the office. Do not confirm they were a patient or mention treatments, dates, or health details, even if they shared some. Ask your own compliance advisor what applies to you.

Can you get a bad review removed?

You cannot delete a review yourself, but you can flag one that breaks Google's content policies, and Google decides what happens. Reviewers can edit or delete their own. A review that is simply negative stays up, so a calm, helpful reply is the right move.

Do you guarantee more reviews or a higher rating?

No. Reviews come from your customers, and we never promise a number of reviews or a star rating. We guarantee the work: if we miss a promised monthly deliverable, that deliverable's share of the month is credited.
